Volunteer

Volunteers play an important role in community building and uplifting the well-being of our beneficiaries. The Singapore Cheshire Home identified different volunteering opportunities for those who like to partner us to transform life.

You can choose to be a regular or ad-hoc volunteer, individually or through your organisation. We also welcome pro bono services and contributions.

As a volunteer, you have the opportunity to:

  • Meet new people
  • Learn a new skill
  • Use your experience and existing skills to do good
  • Make a contribution to the local community
  • Appreciate the value of being of service to others
  • Develop self-discipline and critical thinking skills
  • Achieve a sense of self-fulfilment

Get involved! And make a real difference to the lives of our beneficiaries.

Please contact enquiries@cheshirehome.org.sg to explore further if you find an area that interest you!

…My volunteer experience allowed me to learn that great things need not come from big actions – but the smallest of things can also be the greatest. I felt like every second spent in this project was so fulfilling and enriching for me… Thank you Cheshire Home for the memories and enriching experience you have allowed us to take behind. I hope we have created small precious memories for the residents through our little sessions!

Thank you to the residents and the staff for always welcoming us warmly. Even though I hardly speak English, I feel very happy that I am able to communicate with everyone that goes beyond words. I am also grateful that my fellow volunteers and I are able to volunteer together with a smile.

Interacting with the residents brings many smiles to their faces and makes us realise the importance and warmth of human interaction. I am energized every time I visit as a volunteer.

利用者の皆さんと交流する中でたくさんの笑顔が生まれ、人と人との繋がりの大切さやあたたかさを実感させられます。私もボランティアに伺うたびに元気をいただいています。

For over 20 years now, it has been my wholehearted pleasure to visit Cheshire Home on Thursday afternoons with student volunteers from United World College of South East Asia. During those years, I have experienced countless precious moments and I have been lucky enough to make many friends for life at the Home. I have much to be thankful for. From the moment we arrive, there is a rapport between our students and the residents and I enjoy nothing more than standing back and watching the positive interactions taking place throughout. There is enjoyment, friendship and happiness, as well as mutual respect and understanding. Many times, residents and students are encouraged to go out of their comfort zone.

The personal growth in the students from UWCSEA is wonderful. They arrive on their first visit tentatively approaching residents, not knowing quite what to expect or how to interact. But within a few visits, their confidence and enjoyment has developed to such an extent that it becomes difficult to get them to leave! The joy of giving and receiving, of course, but also the realisation they are finding out more about the Singapore society they are part of, and making their own friends. All done whilst they enjoy their chess game, gardening stint, Connect 4 and so much more!

Volunteering with Cheshire Home has been a truly enriching experience. It has allowed me to give back to my community and make a positive impact in the lives of the underprivileged. Through my volunteer work, I have been reminded that there is more to life than just our personal needs and desires.

Not only has volunteering helped me to stay grounded, but it has also given me a sense of purpose and fulfillment. It has provided me with the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals who share the same values and passions. I highly recommend volunteering with Cheshire Home to anyone looking for a meaningful way to contribute to society.
