Singapore Cheshire Home Invites Media for Press Release of our Gala Dinner 2025

Singapore Cheshire Home (SCH), a nonprofit organisation for physically disabled persons is hosting its first charity gala dinner in 33 years on 28 February 2025, 6.30pm to 10pm at the Ocean Ballroom of Pan Pacific Singapore Hotel.

The evening promises to be an unforgettable night of fine dining, live music performed by Jeremy Monteiro and performances by the residents and staff of SCH, and Raffles Draw with all proceeds going towards supporting our disabled beneficiaries. SCH runs a residential home that our residents can call home away from home, in a garden-like environment and with lots of activities to keep them stimulated, physically, mentally and socially . Funds will also be used for renovating and upgrading our facilities and to expand our services to better serve the larger disabled community in Ang Mo Kio, Sengkang and Serangoon.

One of the highlights of the event is to showcase success stories, one of which is an ex-resident who has been reintegrated into society, married, bought his own flat and is gainfully employed in an MNC. Another is a grateful and satisfied parent who found peace of mind when his disabled daughter was admitted to SCH. Mr Ong said, “More people love my daughter is better than my wife and I only”. Beautiful art pieces painted by SCH resident artists will be exhibited and presented to donors at the dinner.

“We are proud and happy to host our ‘Home to Bloom’ gala to raise vital funds to meet the growing needs of our disabled beneficiaries, most of whom have been living in SCH for an average of 20 years with eight of our residents who have been in our care for over 50 years” said Mr Ramani Muniyandi, Chairman, Singapore Cheshire Home. “We are extremely grateful for the generous support of our donors, sponsors and unstinting support from our volunteers over the years. With your continued support we look forward to share more success stories in the future.”

About Singapore Cheshire Home

The Home was started, in 1956, by the late Group Captain Lord Leonard Cheshire, V.C., O.M., D.S.O., D.F.C. at a derelict gun-site beside the sea at Telok Paku, Changi. This was the first Cheshire Home in the Far East region. The Singapore Cheshire Home is today the Asia Pacific headquarters to nine such homes in the region.

This is a “Home” in the truest practicable sense, for the care, rehabilitation, encouragement, stimulation and happiness of our residents and clients. Today, the Singapore Cheshire Home runs a 90-person capacity residential home and a Day Care Centre for people who suffer from muscular dystrophy/atrophy, spasticity, cerebral palsy, deformities, spinal/head injuries and various other debilitating conditions. SCH cares for a daily average of 20 day care clients. Our beneficiaries receive nursing care, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, art and craft sessions, computer training as well as social & recreational activities. Through rehabilitation, we enable our people to achieve maximum independence for happier lives.
